Welcome Mr Brendan Peek

 

Brendan Peek

 

Mr Brendan Peek was recently appointed as the Manager, Medical Workforce and Training.

 

Brendan Peek has worked in the area of education and training for health professionals for the past 12 years.

 

He originally qualified as a podiatrist and worked for several years in both the private and public sectors. After gaining a Bachelor of Adult Education and Training, he moved into undergraduate teaching, working in Australia and the United Kingdom with podiatry and medical students.

 

Brendan completed a Masters Degree in Education in 2003, and since that time has been involved with training and support for general practitioners. For the past few years, Brendan has held the position of State Manager (SA/NT) with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.

 

 

 


Expanded Specialist Training Program (ESTP)


The ESTP program is a Commonwealth initiative aimed at increasing specialist training in non-conventional settings such as private practice, private hospital, community and rural and remote locations. The program was developed to address the shortages in both training supervisors and training places that will arise in the near future as medical schools vastly increase their output. ESTP is therefore primarily targeted at training although can of course aid service provision especially in disadvantaged areas.
